YogaYoga and counselling philosophies blend beautifully together to help people live a more whole, embodied life. Yoga and mindful movement can be used therapeutically to address a number of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, body-image and chronic pain.
Heather currently facilitates a Yoga for Stress class through the YMCA of Lethbridge and offers Individual Sessions for folks experiencing the impact of trauma and/or chronic pain. |
Offerings
Trauma Sensitive YogaTrauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a beautiful intervention for people who struggle with complex, interpersonal trauma. It’s based in trauma theory, neuroscience, attachment theory and Hatha yoga. It differs from other types of yoga as certain postures are not used, there are no adjustments or emphasis on alignment of postures and the teacher emphasizes choice and mindfulness throughout the session. There is often a focus on reconnecting with internally felt body sensations and responding to those sensations in ways that feel best to you.

Yoga for StressIn this class we explore how yoga can be used to address symptoms of stress. Participants are encouraged to adapt postures to fit their needs and body awareness is encouraged throughout the practice. There is a 60 minute yoga practice which contains breathing, movement and meditation. Pain Care Aware Yoga
"Pain care aware" yoga combines an understanding of how our bodies often experience pain and invites aspects of yoga philosophy and movement to help navigate and decrease our suffering. These sessions help folks to explore what their individual body, heart and mind needs to bring more comfort and ease to their being.
