Yoga

Yoga and counselling philosophies blend beautifully together to help people live a more whole, embodied life. Yoga can be used therapeutically to address a number of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and body-image. Private and group sessions are available to help you adapt or create a yoga practice that reflects what you want to develop or heal.  

Heather currently offers three different yoga services as a clinical intervention to address mental health concerns. Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), Yoga for Emotional Wellness, and Private consultation/sessions.
Quiet Healing: Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a clinical intervention for people who struggle with complex, interpersonal trauma.  It’s based in Trauma theory, neuroscience, attachment theory and hatha yoga. It differs greatly from other types of yoga as class sizes are small, certain postures are not used, and there are no adjustments or emphasis on alignment of postures. Participants have choice over their body at all times and the teacher emphasizes choice and mindfulness throughout the class.  This class emphasizes the practice of TCTSY only, so there is no talking or group processing.  No yoga experience is necessary.


A Strong Quiet: Yoga for Emotional Wellness

​In this class we explore how yoga can be used to address symptoms of depression, anxiety and anger.  Participants are encouraged to adapt postures to fit their needs.  There will be a 60 minute yoga practice which contains breathing, movement and meditation, followed by a 30 minute discussion and exploration of how themes from yoga and psychology can be incorporated into your day to day life to help manage any symptoms you are experiencing.
Private Yoga Consultations 

​Private yoga sessions can be helpful in a lot of different situations. These private sessions are tailored to meet your specific needs. They can be helpful if you'd like to build confidence and familiarity with postures before starting a community class or if you are an experienced yogi looking to enhance your practice or wanting to use yoga to address a specific issue such as body image, depression or anxiety. Private sessions can also be a stepping stone if you'd like to learn how to adapt postures in a regular yoga class so it's more trauma informed and healing for you.

Fee for Yoga Services

Fees are dependent on the group or class you are attending.

Private sessions currently are offered at $75 per hour.
