Despite all the intensity that has gone on and continues to go on in our world, I am continuously amazed how humans continue to show up and do our best, even against incredible odds. I remember a young child I met in the Alberta Children’s Hospital, who had just undergone surgery for their cerebral palsy, leaving them immobile. But there they were, in a wheelchair, zooming down the hallways of the hospital, making the best of their situation.
I have seen this type of resilient behaviour many times over in my work and understand it takes effort to achieve. I am here as a support as you explore how to engage with these efforts. I use interventions that allow for more internal awareness, understanding our triggers and core beliefs, listening to the wisdom of our bodies and subconscious, using experience as a teacher through mindfulness and the expressive arts.
I have experience and training in several theoretical models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Expressive Art Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I am a life-long learner, and this list will continue to grow.
I work with many different groups of humans including youth, adults, elders, and families, in person and online. I am passionate about working with folks with different abilities, chronic conditions, 2SLGBTQA+ folks, folks with anxiety, those with migrant experiences and other life transitions, including support for those interested in accessing MAID and their support networks.
I am a Mental Health First Aid Trainer with CMHA and also offer group workshops for 2SLGBTQA+ folks and those with chronic pain in collaboration with grassroots community organizations.
I listen to the rhythms of my own nervous system and use these internal signals as a way of connecting with the folks who feel drawn to my work. If this is you, please reach out by phone (403-616-6399) or email ([email protected]). I have flexible hours with availability for daytime, evening and weekend appointments.
